It’s a Wrap!

Monday, October 22nd, 2018

It was an incredible few days in Portland at the Timber Processing and Energy Expo! The event featured exhibits from major equipment companies and suppliers in the wood processing and timber markets — and included workshops examining topics ranging from artificial intelligence in the sawmill industry to the revival of the North American wood panel market. The show had something for everyone and was attended by top industry professionals from across the globe.

We brought along one of our Brunette Veneer Chippers (with permission from its new owner, Richmond Plywood) where it made a big splash on the floor of the Portland Exposition Center. Amid the oohs and ahs, the team had the opportunity to show off the chipper and explain all the advantages of our machines to the crowd. We also launched our newest product line at the expo: CBI Magnum Force stationary, electric horizontal grinders. While both pieces of equipment commanded a lot of enthusiasm, we heard that the hit of the show was the Brunette barbecue on Wednesday night!

Thank you, TP & Energy Expo, for a great show — see you in 2020!

Let’s Celebrate!

Friday, September 7th, 2018

Do you remember where you were 41 years ago today? Our Parts Manager remembers — it was her first day of work at Brunette. For the past four decades we have been fortunate to have her expertise, her creativity, her loyalty, and her friendship.

As we celebrate Brunette’s 75th anniversary this year, we are also applauding the many people who made this milestone possible. Sonia is one of those people.

Sonia came to us as a bright-eyed new office assistant, who sorted and distributed mail, filed documents and posted timecards. Today, she is an experienced professional who has built strong relationships, both personal and business, with our customer base throughout North America. She is a tremendous asset to Brunette, always championing the company and leading by example. Her contributions have been numerous and substantial.

Happy anniversary, Sonia. Thank you for spending 41 great years with us. Our success is directly attributable to employees like you who have grown with us, learned our customers’ needs, and then “pulled out all the stops” to see they got what they wanted.

Brunette Presents at OptiSaw 2018

Tuesday, May 8th, 2018

Capital is an exciting word in the forestry industry. In the lumber mill business, considering capital expenditure means answering the question: Do you repair or replace, a major piece of equipment?

Patrick Browne ImageBrunette Machinery’s Patrick Browne will present a case study on this issue at OptiSaw — the one-day educational forum aimed at those involved in the sawmill business — happening on June 5, 2018 in Richmond, BC.

Patrick’s study focuses on the log singulator, an innovative machine that notably changed the forest industry in the 1980’s. He explores the pros and cons of investing in the most recent technology or repairing/maintaining existing time-tested units.

OptiSaw, presented by Canadian Forest Industries’ Wood Business, will feature Brunette’s case study along with other topics concerning the future of sawmilling.

Join us at this informative event on June 5th, 2018 at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel, in Richmond, BC. This forum is geared to people associated with the sawmill industry —sawmill management and owners, process engineers, continual improvement managers, optimization staff, researchers and design consultants.
