Brunette Machinery’s Newest Drum Chipper — The 4840 Horizontal

We don’t need to tell you that wood processing machinery operates under demanding conditions. To produce quality pulp chips, you need machines that can handle the roughest material and deliver the highest production rates.

Today’s sawmill owners face an ever-increasing demand for capacity, efficiency and availability. They require custom solutions and rugged machines that are easy to maintain and perform well under rigorous conditions. While the purpose of a sawmill is to process softwood or hardwood logs into quality lumber, they also benefit from processing the resulting sawdust, chips and bark into additional value streams.

Brunette Machinery offers a line of Drum Chippers in various sizes and model configurations that are built to increase revenue from your residuals. With their rigid structural frame and powerful high-inertia rotor, Brunette Chippers deliver optimal performance, lower maintenance costs, and quality chips.

Our Drum Chippers produce uniform pulp chips and “micro-chips” from short material that is difficult to control, giving you access to more markets and flexibility.

Brunette Machinery 4840 Horizontal Chipper

The 4840 Horizontal is the newest Chipper in our Drum Chipper line and has the same heavy-duty fabrication as our other wood processing machines. The 4840 is available in two models, the 4840H4V Veneer (shown above) and the 4840H4T Sawmill. Both models have a horizontal feedworks and are available with either a bottom or rear discharge.

The 4840H4V model features an anvil raised closer to the rotor, so the knives hit at an angle for thinner material. This model processes veneer waste rejects, round-up, cores, and spinouts in one machine. The 4840HT model significantly reduces overs from trim blocks, reject boards and edgings.

Features:

The 4840 Horizontal Drum Chipper is built to the same exacting criteria as our other Chipper models and has the same standard features, including:

  • A wide throat to accommodate large pieces such as logs, lily pads, cores, spinouts, and trim blocks.
  • One-piece, tapered knives that process material across the width of the drum provide even wear and longer life.
  • A rear access hood, opened with a hydraulic cylinder operated from a Hydraulic Power Unit, provides safe, easy access for knife change.
  • Shear pins protect the anvil saving valuable production time and repair costs associated with tramp metal.
  • The swing-away anvil assembly includes a bolt-on hardened reversible anvil.
  • The rugged, stress-relieved main frame is a welded construction with steel plate reinforced bearing mounts. Heavy-duty pillow blocks support the rotor assembly.

Safety:
All Brunette Chippers have the following safety features.

Electrical Safety Interlocks
• Hood lift
• Swing-away anvil
• Shaft motion sensor
• Devices are wired to a common junction box

Mechanical Safety Locks
• Hood lock
• Rotor lock

Ask About Available Options:
